CC Interviewsby ChiyuNimrod >Interviewer: Hello, Nimrod. Nimrod: Lo, Tom! Nimrod: Got pie? Interviewer: No pie. Interviewer: Please introduce yourself. Real name, age, (gender) and location? Nimrod: Well, I'm Snook to most people, but my actual first name is Andy. People just call me by my surname, and I've given into them and just accepted that my name is now Snook. Gives me quite a few nicknames to, Snookie, Snookieboy and Snookums. Nimrod: I've just recently turned 18, so enjoying legal alcohol . Nightclubs and pubs are now available to me, so weekends have been very enjoyable. Nimrod: I'm from London, thats the capital of England for those of you who don't know. Interviewer: You're usually very proud of your British citizenship. Why? Nimrod: Why not? The British Empire formed the world as it is now, our language is spoken worldwide and we still have some of the best creative talent in existence. For example, look at Computer Games, the current best selling title is the GTA range, which is British made We also helped save Nintendo with Goldeneye, Banjo Kazooie and Starfox. We are home to Rockstar North, Team 17 and Rare. >
Interviewer: You're forgetting the best thing about Great Britain. Nimrod: The fact we're an Island? And not part of mainland europe? Interviewer: The music. Without England, music wouldn't be as it is right now. Nimrod: ah yes, I know you're a big fan of our music. Interviewer: Yeah. Interviewer: If you weren't in England, what other country would you consider living in? Nimrod: Well, when I was younger I use to dream of going to America. Recently thou when reading about america and seeing it on the news i've changed my mind. I dont get how religion has such a big grip on the law over there and it scares me. For example the voting against gay marriage, I wont get into massive detail on it but when the leader tries to ban a basic human right from ever being allowed it. Nimrod: makes me feel sick. Based on that I'm quite a fan of Holland. Its one of the few countrys were basic human rights for everyone are given. Its also a country not controlled by religion. Interviewer: I totally agree. Religion and the government shouldn't be intertwined. But as neutral interviewer, I shouldn't show my my own opinion too much. Interviewer: You mentioned the word gay. How does it make you feel that you're the first OPEN gay person we ever had in CC? Nimrod: Great? I'm not to sure. Being one of the first open gays not just in CC, but in the game JJ2 it was quite scary. At first I was getting quite a few horrible comments thrown at me. I guess in the way the clan CC helped protect me as its clanleader was one of the few who accepted it even if it destroyed the image of his clan. Nimrod: Although things have changed in the community, and more people have come out, I must say CC has given me the most protection out of them all. They stand united for their members. Interviewer: That's nice to hear. Interviewer: Do you get the same respect and protection you get online (for your homosexuality), in real life? Nimrod: I do, and I dont. The country I live in is very split. Some believe its about time homosexuality got accepted and its perfectly natural. Others either believe as its "sick" to them, it shouldnt be allowed, or a lot of older people are against it due to religion/past laws (in the past homosexuality was illegal and thought of as illegal). Overall, I just learnt to ignore the attacks from some. Nimrod: People and just accepted not everyones able to cope with reality. Nimrod: Overall, its friends that count, right? Interviewer: True. Nimrod: My friends accept me and defend me, so thats all that counts to me. Interviewer: Talking about real life, you said you have a job. What work do you do? Nimrod: Oh, a highly exciting job at a supermarket (notice the sarcasm). I currently work on the service areas, including Petrol Station and Checkouts. Dealing with annoying customers every shift im there. I work there 3 days a week, just to bring in some money to pay for the weekends. >
Interviewer: I assume you're still taking some kind of education though? Interviewer: You can't stay in that supermarket for the rest of your life. Nimrod: Indeed, I'm a second year college student at Brooklands College. Studying ICT and Business Studies. I dont intend to stay at a supermarket for much longer at all, don't worry. Interviewer: What are your plans for the future, after you've finished your education? Nimrod: I've been given places at two universitys (which I need to pick between) for 2006. Which means I have a cap year to try and find an Apprenticeship in Networking. So I have many options. Interviewer: Ah. That's nice, it's always good to have enough ways to go. Nimrod: Indeed. Interviewer: Let's move away from the "Real Life" for now. Interviewer: On the internet, you are widely known as Nimrod. Not only in CC, but in the JJ2 community in general too. Interviewer: You've been in CC since long ago, even though you left and rejoined quite a few times. Interviewer: When you think back of it, what was your happiest moment in CC? Nimrod: It was when CC made homosexuality an officially accepted thing in the clan, with the help of me. Many years ago. Interviewer: Currently, you are the "Security Guard" in CC. What are your thoughts about that? Nimrod: Interesting position, and very new. Its a challanging job which is hopefully very rewarding. Interviewer: Next to CC, you are also in GpW, CC's former rival. How do you feel about the current relationship between the two clans? Nimrod: Seems to be improving, I dont see them so much as rivals anymore. Although the upcoming clanmatch Gpw V CC in JJ2WC may bring postive or negative things to the relationship. But put it this way, a year ago the clans hated eachother, now they talk. That in my eyes is a big improvement. Interviewer: We even train together at JJ2 from time to time. Interviewer: CC and GpW arent the only clans though. Interviewer: You know there's this clan tournament coming up, JJ2WC. Interviewer: What do you think about DM? Nimrod: There a very respected clan to most people, and have done well in the past. Specially with players like AvK they will be very sucessful in JJ2WC. Interviewer: And what are your thoughts about FoR? Nimrod: Don't know much about them to be honest ;\. Interviewer: What about the relatively new faces; [Si] and VS? Nimrod: Can't say I've had a postive start with VS, with some of their members stealing my work and crediting themselves, and I dont know much about [Si]. Interviewer: Stealing your work? What do you mean? Nimrod: Some of the patches I made for the community to allow there JJ2 Multiplayer to work again with the list servers I deployed. They took them and credited themselves with the work. Interviewer: That's not very nice. Nimrod: Indeed, there Clan leader didnt care and refused to correct it, it took many threats to finally make them do it. Interviewer: I hear you're involved with JJ2 Multiplayer. Can you explain what your job there is? >
Nimrod: Well, when the Official List Servers died, multiplayer with JJ2 became very difficult. Myself and a couple of ex-jj2'ers decided to deploy our own list so we could continue to play. Then others started to notice and asked if they could use the list. Soon after that our list became public and now is used by the vast majority of the community. Without a list server JJ2 multiplayer is useless. Nimrod: And everyone needs to do IP Joins. Nimrod: Inregards to Security, quite a few bugs have been found within JJ2, including the ability to bypass private servers, crash servers, cheat in servers and rename people. I am currently working with Overlord to create protection against these bugs, to protect both Players, and the game itself. With all this abuse people are leaving JJ2 more than ever before and the game may soon die. Interviewer: So basically you can prevent people from using the serverlists too? Interviewer: Some people have accused you of "power abuse" in regards to the serverlists, how would you defend yourself against that? Nimrod: I guess I could, but its really not an option I like to do, nor do I really get approval for. People seem to think its their right to have access to the list server, but there very wrong. The list server is a private resource im hosting, at a cost to myself. Its like owning a house, I can pick who I want to be allowed in. Saying that thou I have kept the list server open to even people I dislike. Nimrod: Overall I keep banning to a minimum and so far havent needed to for quite a while, the threat is always there if people really do try to mess up the game for everyone else. Also going back to the point of it being my resource, how can I power abuse? It's not like its anyones right to access my resources. If you owned a shop you wouldnt want trouble makers in there ruining it for everyone else. Interviewer: I agree. Have you EVER needed to ban someone? Nimrod: I have in the past, they know why and accepted it. It only lasted a week. I'm affraid I am unable to provide names thou. Interviewer: Okay. Interviewer: Would you mind telling me with which CC'ers you wouldn't mind spending one week with IRL? Nimrod: A few CC'ers I'd like to meet, being Veg, Gry and yourself. Interviewer: To which CC'ers would you let your mom say "he's not home", if they came to visit you? Nimrod: Would have been Shaney, but hes gone now. Interviewer: How do you think, should the "leading system" (also known as ECC, the "elites") be organised in CC? Nimrod: Well, I'm not keen as to how much power someone up high has, for example if everyone but one person votes for something Nimrod: the other person shouldnt be able to use a veto, and disregard everyone elses view. Interviewer: So if you were the leader of CC, that would be the first thing you'd change? Nimrod: Perhaps remove the ability to veto, or perhaps make it so at least 2 people have to veto, or 3. Interviewer: Let's round up the interview a bit. Interviewer: Talking about changes, what would you'd like to see changed in your own life? Nimrod: Perhaps I should continue to be active, in the past I use to go on the computer a little to much, recently I've started to socialize more with people, and go out at weekends and its been doing my heath good. Interviewer: Well, now a couple of interesting final questions. Interviewer: What's your favourite movie? Nimrod: all time or present? Interviewer: Both. Nimrod: An all time favourite movie I guess would be the first Tomb Raider, and current favourite would be Oceans Twelve, which i recently saw. Interviewer: And for the final question; what's your favourite game? Nimrod: I guess all time would have to be Jazz 2. I'm also currently enjoying Warhammer 40,000 : The Dawn of War. Its a great RTS which focuses on tactics and force, rather than resources. >
Interviewer: Well, thanks for your time. Is there anything you have to add? Nimrod: I think we covered enough. Interviewer: Okay. Have a nice day sir. Nimrod: Thanks Tom *hugs*! Interviewer: *hugs back*. |
Extra large editionWell, since the newsletter is only monthly from last edition on, I decided a extra large newsletter would be nice, for April. April is an important month for CC, with JJ2WCII taking place. So what more can I say? Enjoy the extra large interview, the extra game review and all the stuff in the third colom!Written by Chiyu, 26 March 2005. Game Reviewsby SanderstijlAct of War: Direct ActionRelease date: 15 March 2005Publisher: Atari Developer: Eugen Systems Genre: Strategy >
OMG just in time for this month's review. This strategy game, developed by Atari, really puts you back in your chair since it is more a movie than a game. Most likely this is the reason for the game being so big of size (one of the first dual layered DVD pc-games) with it's 5.17GB. What's it about? Well it's a modern-strategy game. Meaning you have to fight terrorists -_- by controlling an American team: Task Force Talon. Personally the game feels like playing C&C: Generals because of the lay out of the menu and the game itself. Oil, which is probably the main reason for America to attack Iraq, has become an important aspect in Act of War too (it's a recource which you have to gather...duh). >
Well the game is build on a good graphics engine, it's pretty stable. When you compare the the graphics to the system requirements they did a good job. In the upperleft corner of the screen you are being updated of current happenings by showing some real and FMV movies. This screen pops up whenever you've achieved another goal or something new is coming up like for example enemy soldiers invading your building somewhere, the screen pops up and you'll get a great looking movie which makes you forget that at the same time you have to do something about them instead of drool on your keyboard. The Physics of the game are good as well, has a natural look over it (physics is the way things move). At some point early in the game you welk through a city (like you always do) and the roads are filled with ppl demonstrating stuff. Every 'protester' takes some power of your system (to put it simple) which is the reason in most racing games the crowds are 2D. Well here they aint so Imo Atari put up a great engine for this game. The sound is fine though when I ran it for the first time I was having some sound problems (it hang so you kept hearing the sound of a bomb exploding which gets pretty annoying after 5 minutes) but after a restart of the game that was gone. The sound options arent really special. They are very simple, you have the choice between 2d and 3d sound and there's nothing else to select. So ppl with a quadrophonic setup (4 speakers + sub) arent very lucky. Same goes for ppl that enjoy DTS. I'd expected it to be an option since the game is more a movie. >
The game plays pretty easy. Playin' on normal mode (there's no easy, just normal, hard and very hard) doesnt really challenge you. Anyway not up to the point where I'm at right now. The Auto Save option works fine, you wont have to wait for an Auto Save for hours but for the n00bs who are afraid to die all the time: you CAN save at any time. In my oppinion the game is TOO simple, you dont have enoguh options or anything which makes the game boring pretty easily. I surely am going to finish the game because of the movie which is pretty funny though not very interesting either. I don't think this game is worth purchasing / downloading. Though when you're a real RTS fanatic go ahead I wont stop you. For the ones who go for the Multiplayer: The game has no TCP/IP option or anything so you have to buy the game to play online OR play it in a LAN (local area NETWORK).....it is played over Gamespy Arcade, there are most likely illegal servers which you can find using "The all seeing eye" (search for it on google.com) though It would need a crack which is probably hard to get. If you are not sure about purchasing the game you'd might want to try the demo which can be downloaded from the official site: http://www.atari.com/actofwar/us/index.php Graphics: 9/10 Sound: 7/10 Gameplay: 7/10 Total Score: 8/10 >
Game Reviewsby AnakinHalf-Life 2Release date: 16 November 2004Publisher: Valve Developer: Valve Genre: FPS >
Half-Life 2 is probably the best game i've ever played, it was EXACTLY the game i was looking for, for those who think HL2 is just a shooter game, wrong, the game requires some thinking work also, which is really fun and original. Rarely any level looks the same, the game is maybe a bit short but all the levels have their own surroundings and looks and what makes evrey level even more interresting is the G-man locations and the different vehacles you get to use. And thats not all yet, you will have allies l8er on in the game aswell. I've seen previeuws on HL2, how it started in a train again and how it arrived at City 17 is only impressive when you play it yourself, but how DR breen talks in the beginning, are lines i still remember now. And then when you continue your way when you meet Barney is so impressive. The grapichs are absolutly godlike the water effects are absolutly beautiful. >
Finaly i got to see what was behind the door in that building of City 17, where the first lvl of the demo ends and where you get in Ravenholm after, I recognized the place from movie trailers trough, but it was cool to play arround the area myself, btw if you dont want to get spoilered to much, i suggest u shoudnt read any futher, anyway when i got trough the building, being chased by Combine soldiers, and then when i closed in i really was like, NOO!!! and then Alyx comes and saves u, so cool. Alyx looks really gr8 :D, She's really cool. Then i finaly got the lab, one high point of Hl2 is the game doesnt have cutscene's, there are cinematics, but you can still move arround, the way the characters talk to you, is so amazing. Doom III was kinda ruined by its darkness, and having no water, but HL2 had water, cars, boats you could drive in and those make HL2 a better game, also Doom III only implented, "computer control" but Hl2 implented the "gravity gun" into FPS games, and like i said in the demo revieuw, i expected this to be very limited, but you can pick a hell lot of stuff up, the gravity gun is especially fun in the last lvl when it gets a power up. >
I really liked the game, it was not just shooting and stuff, but you also needed to think some times and be smart which really makes the game very interresting. However the game was a bit on the short side, there is much to explore, but i was kinda dissapointed and happy when i reached the citadels entrance, you are both happy, that you came this far, and yet sad, because i like the game so much, and it was exactly the type of gameplay i enjoy most, and you know you are already in the last level. The last level ( the Citadel ) wont dissapoint you at all, altrough the last 2 levels are way to short, and basicly far to easy, the grapichs of inside the citadel and the way you go trough it, is absolutly overwelmhing. I h8ed the open end, but i already new it had a open end, but i'd liked a ending cinematic but it was just, game over, you completed it, end of HL2, w8 till Hl2 expansion or HL3 :( Graphics : 9,5/10 Gameplay : 9,5/10 Sounds : 9/10 Music : 9/10 Total : 9,3/10 >
Movie Reviewsby SanderstijlOld SchoolTime: Dated somewhere Q1 or Q2 2003Genre: Comedy >
Old School is a movie I recently bumped into on the internet looking for a movie to...watch :P. In my opinion this movie is pretty funny and worth watching. It's about some guy who was married with some shitty girl, they broke up and he needed to change his life so he decided to move. The movie really starts when he got this new house where a friend of him arranged a party, sort of welcoming party. Pretty cool and funny things happen there which you can't possibly explain and so I wont. The real Snoop Dog is at the party by the way. Well then later he starts some group with g33ky ppl to just make fun after working time, more ppl want to join him (kinda like the movie "Fight Club") and eventually he gets in trouble because of the house he moved to has to be rented some months a year to ppl who are on holiday there, he didn't know this when he bought the house. And most of the ppl who 'joined' (read: forced) to join his group are about to get kicked out of school. So they're goin' to prevent that of course and when the movie ends as they succeed. That's the 'story' of the movie. Though the way they do all this stuff is real fun, allot of jokes and ah well you just have to see this movie to understand why its fun though the story I just wrote seems very boring :P >
So okay the scores. For the story of the movie I'd say...5/10. The story is weak though this movie doesnt NEED a story because its not where the movie is about, its about making you laugh and at that point its a succes (at least for me it was). Well sounds are good what can I say? Nothing special just a comedy no special effects in this movie so just 7/10 for the descent sound. The way the actors perform and all is of course VERY important. And In my opinion they all (including Snoop Dog of course) did a GREAT job. They all have their way of behaviour and when you look the movie you just have to believe that's the way they are in normal live. So I'd say 8/10 (why not higher? because I dont think they had to do anything thats very difficult in acting though its not easy playing dumb or anything so an 8 is cool by me). >
Conclusion: 8. Why an 8 when the story get's a 5 and thats not the average when you calculate it? Well because a comedy is good when you have to laugh about it. Not when it has a great story but average 'fun-level'. >

Ingredients: - 500 gram of dairy-fresh butter - 500 gram of white moist sugar - 250 gram of flour - 10 eggs - 5 teaspoons of anise powder - 10 teaspoons of cinnamon powder - 5 teaspoons of clove powder (a.k.a. “tjengkeh”) - 3 teaspoons of nutmeg powder - 2˝ teaspoons of cardemom powder (get this in an Indonesian Toko) >
How to make: For this recipe you need an oven where you can use the top and bottom warmth elements separately. I don’t give any temperatures, as you need to watch the cake all the time, because of the layers. First, prepare the oven and grease the round . Mix the butter fine and smooth with a mixer. Seperate the eggs: add the thaws to the butter and also add the moist sugar. Mix this continuously for about 10 minutes. Add the white of the eggs and also add the flour to the substance. Once this batter is mixed well, separate it in two. Leave the other half white, while you have to mix the powders/spices with the other half. Okay, now we are halfways, what comes up next is the baking part. Put the batter which is brown first; you only have to make a small layer. Bake it with only the bottom warmth. When this layer is good enough for you then switch the bottom warmth element off and switch the top element on. Now put some of your white batter on top of the baked brown layer and put it back in the oven. When you are done with this white layer, put again some brown batter on top of it and put it back in the oven until this layer is baked well. Continue this until you have no more batters left (preferably brown is the last one on top of the cake). This process takes about one hour. When you’re done with all the layers, switch now only the bottom warmth element on (the lowest heat). Leave it for about 5-10 minutes. Your cake is done: selamat makan! Jazz Jackrabbit 2 World Championship IIby Chiyu >
In April, JJ2WCII will start. Ten of the most known/best JJ2 clans (if not "the" top 10) will compete for the title. JJ2WCII was introduced to JJ2 last year, with the absence of CC. But this year, we'll be there so I thought it would be a good idea to supply some information about it! Therefor, I have held a short interview with R3ptile, the organisator. Interviewer: In April, JJ2WCII will start. Ten of the most known/best JJ2 clans (if not "the" top 10) will compete for the title. Interviewer: But what else can we say about this cup? Let's have a word with R3ptile, the organisator. Interviewer: Hey R3ptile, who are you? Please tell us something in short about yourself! R3ptile: My name is Cfir, I'm 16 years old and I'm living in Israel, Haifa. Interviewer: What was your part on the JJ2 stage before you started JJ2WC? R3ptile: I mainly focused on dueling and took the 7th place in my first JDC season. I also leaded my own clan, MT. My goal was (and still is) becoming the best JJ2 duelist. Interviewer: Well, to the point. What does JJ2WCII stand for? R3ptile zegt: Jazz Jackrabbit 2 World Championship II. Interviewer: http://www.jj2wc2.tk/ is a nice site. Who made it? R3ptile: I made it myself with some help from ChippieBW. Interviewer: How did you came up with the idea for JJ2WC? R3ptile: I felt that JJ2 lacked any serious competition and decided to start my own clan tournament. Most of the people in our community supported my idea, though some of them didn't believe that such a tournament would ever work. Interviewer: We (CC) were skeptical about it and decided not to sign up for the first season. What reason can you give for the fact that your tournament DID work out, unlike many other attempts? R3ptile: JJ2WC was more organized than most of the other tournies since we got clear rules about match and player conflicts. We got an IRC channel, a (decent) website and much more support from the whole community. Interviewer: Did everything go as planned during the first season? R3ptile: Well, not really. Clans didn't show up and some rules got changed during the season, but at last, the tourney was a big success. Interviewer: If all clans showed up, do you think the outcome would have been any different? R3ptile: To be honest, yes. VS could qualify to the semi-finals instead of DM or GpW, and FoR could get the first place in group A instead of [TF]. Interviewer: Do you think the upcoming season is going to be better (ie: more exciting) than the first one? R3ptile: Of course! We got more active clans, more top-players, different line-up's, etc.. Interviewer: There are ten clans. Which clans do you consider as "the underdogs" of this tournament? R3ptile: The six clans that won't qualify to the semi-finals are considered as the "underdogs", that's for sure. Interviewer: And are there any clans which you're pretty sure of that won't qualify to the semi-finals? R3ptile: JSZ and LR would surprise us and qualify to the semi-finals, hopefully. Interviewer: Are there any clans which you are sure of that WILL reach the semi-finals? R3ptile: I can never be too sure, but DM got the highest chance since they won the last season and they're quite active lately. Interviewer: CC will make it's entrance this season. Do you think it's a good idea that we decided to sign up this time? >
R3ptile:Yeah. CC is a good clan with great teamwork and their decision to join the tourney would just make it much more exciting and interesting than ever. Interviewer: And what do you expect from your own clan, [si]? R3ptile: Our goal is reaching the grand-final and even winning the season, but it would be hard since some of our best members were quite inactive in the last months and we haven't trained for ages. Let's just hope we'll get as far as we can. Interviewer: Which clans would qualify to the semi-finals in your opinion? R3ptile: DM, [si], [GpW] and CC. VS are also very active and doing well lately. [TF] and FoR are very inactive and some of their members are rusty, though. Interviewer: Which clan do you not WANT to see reach the semi-finals? (out of personal reasons)? R3ptile zegt: I would like to see all of the participating clans reaching the semi-finals, but it's still impossible. Interviewer: Last question about JJ2WCII; will there be matches to decide the 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th and 10th place? R3ptile: I don't think so, we'll see.. Interviewer: I'll conclude this, with a non-JJ2wc related question. Interviewer: Who do you think will be voted for "CC member of the month March"? R3ptile: YASCO, all the way! 7 years of a rabbit game
