This is the very first official “Cracco” tileset ever. It was created by the former CC Co-Leader COOLM@N, before I even knew how to make tilesets! Sure, the tileset itself may not be all that impressive, but it was a nice tribute to CC (back then called the Cracco Club), and it matched the theme of our first website as well! Notice how the text in the tileset is in Dutch instead of in English.

This tileset is also known as Extreme Plus, but I changed the name, because Elemental describes more of the tileset than Extreme. It has a lot of different tiles. Some from other JJ2 tilesets, some drawn by me and some from other games. This part is very long, because CE+ has a very long story.
Let's go back to late 1999/early 2000. Up till this point I only had some pokémon-related tilesets. I got the idea for a new game mode, called 'Conquest'. It was going to be a game mode with a lot of castles/bases, preferably each with another theme (I'm not going to explain the full concept here). I had some nifty ideas for the castles and their placement. I had one problem though. I didn't have any tileset to suit those ideas. So I had to make a new tileset. I took some tiles from 'Castle', 'Carrotus', 'Psych', 'Marbler' and 'Exotic' and the tileset 'The Greatest' (CBTG.j2t or Cracco.j2t) was born. I used it to create the level 'Cracco Bacco' (with the Conquest concept), and became my first good tileset using a custom tileset. CBTG was used in a lot of levels. I later updated CBTG with some characters from Final Fantasy 4 and Final Fantasy 5 and some self-drawn coins which I needed for another new level; Cracco Land (a level in which the objective was to find 5 trigger boxes which would return coins to the 'Sealed Castle'). Cracco Land quickly became quite popular. CBTG had 980 tiles. I wanted to let it have 1020, but I needed the animations, so I didn't.
I was happy with CBTG, but it had some bugs with some tiles (too much blue around some tiles which made it hard or strange at some points to move around), and unwanted tiles. Because it was so full, I couldn't add new tiles. Each time I wanted to update the tileset, I had to take other tiles out of it. I always had to ask myself: which tiles are least important or unnecessary? I figured that CBTG was already used too much to take a lot of tiles out (those tiles could have already been used in levels with CBTG). So the only thing left for me to do was make a totally new tileset. I opened CBTG's bitmap file and took out all the unwanted tiles (mostly 'Psych' tiles), and replaced them with more useful tiles including more characters from Final Fantasy a few other things. I also fixed some bugs. I called this new tileset (update) 'CL' (Cracco Land), referring to the level Cracco Land (which was CL's prequel, CBTG, greatest success).
I was very happy with my level Cracco Land. I wanted to update it. But before I could update it with more coins and characters I would also have to update the tileset CL. For the same reason why I couldn't just replace some tiles in the tileset in CBTG, I had to make another new tileset (an update of CL). I called the update CLC (Cracco Land & Coins), because this tileset was basically made with putting new coins in it as main goal. CLC had a lot of tiles replaced by new coins, FF (Final Fantasy) characters and a lot other stuff (mostly from other games). There were 10 (actually 11, but the 'Orb' one wasn't used yet) new coins (the coloured and shadowed version). I opened the level 'Cracco Land' and wanted to add 10 new coins (actually trigger boxes) in it to find. But because it would be such a big update, I saved the level as Cracco Land of Coins (Cracco LoC was destined to become my most popular level ever). Cracco Land of Coins was really getting known around this time, and so was the tileset CLC. With CLC, I also started making a lot Carnage levels. However, CLC had one big problem. Because I mostly ripped tiles to keep updating it, I had some trouble with the palette after a while. That's why some of the colours in CLC are slightly less good than in CL (or later versions). Also, it didn't have any nice orange colours, but CBTG, CL, CC and CE didn't have any either. I made a "negative" version of CLC, called CoL (pretty useless tileset...).
A long time later, I had the urge to update the tileset and the level 'LoC' again. So I did. The new tileset (update) was called CC ('Cracco Clan', it was supposed to be the theme tileset of the Cracco Clan). In CC, CLC's palette problems were fixed. CC had 30 coins in total now, and again some new characters. 'CC' wasn't such a major update as the previous update, from CL to CLC.
About this time I wanted to make some levels with other tiles. My plans were a spooky carnage level and a puzzle level pack. The spooky carnage level is known as Cracco Ghost. The two levels in the Diablos puzzle pack are known as The Dungeon Of Diablos and Diablos On The Loose These levels are a little like LoC, finding crates to defeat monsters, which unlocks the way to Diablos, the bad guy (one's a place with passages and warps, the other is a big maze). What do these three levels have to do with CE+ (and it's old versions)? Simple. To make those levels I made special versions of the tileset CC; CA, CB and CD. CA, Cracco Adventure for The Dungeon Of Diablos. CB, Cracco Brainwashed for Cracco Ghost. CD, Cracco Dungeon for Diablos On the Loose. CJ, Cracco Jaunt, CT, Cracco Tumps, CR, Cracco Resort and CN, Cracco Nintendo also got some tiles from CC, but didn't have such a strong resemblance to the tileset as CA, CB and CD because the order of the tiles was changed a lot. CA, CB and CD just have some tiles from CC cut out and new tiles put in to suit the levels they were made for. CA, CB, CD, CJ, CR, CT and CN have only been used a few times I think.
Not much later, I wanted to update the tileset (CC.j2t) AGAIN. CE (Cracco Extreme/Elemental) was it's name. CE was another small update, it had a slightly better mask, 2 new coins, a couple of new characters and some other stuff added. I stuck with this version, CE for a very long time (more than a year). After I was finished with CE I started making most of my other good tileset, first some other ripped tilesets which weren't based on CBTG/CL/CLC/CC/CE, later drawn ones. I also gave Cracco Land of Coins the finishing touch with CE and added the two last coins (so it had 32 in total).
In December 2002, I got the idea to update CE once more. Cracco Elemental Plus. The last of the plus tilesets. I wanted to convert all levels using CE to levels using CE+ (to improve those levels). I didn't change much to the mask though because the mask was really important in some levels like Cracco Practice Race in which you had to use glitches in the walls to advance through the level, and if I changed the mask it would ruin those levels if I converted those levels with CE to CE+. I replaced Elemental's alphabet with a new, better one and I replaced the ripped arrows with drawn ones. I also got rid of a few almost never used tiles (like the C blocks and cloudy letters). I replaced them with blocks for the blue and red base, credit banners, a warp animation, a snowman, a no-alien block and a nice small textured background. Violet made the pallete for Elemental Plus (I did the palettes for CBTG, CL, CLC, CC, CA, CB, CD, CJ, CR, CT and CE). Some of the sprite colours were changed and now especially the tiles which came from the tileset Marbler (a Jazz1 tileset) turned out much better. That's what Elemental Plus is like. If you read this whole story about Elemental Plus' past, I truly admire you.

While I was already working on my second drawn tileset (Island, which was done later) I thought of all my older tilesets which I liked to use, but just missed some very important tiles and just weren't good enough to be used more yet. So I got the idea to update all my smaller, alright tilesets from 2000 and 2001, with enough room to put a set of blocks in, poles, two textured backgrounds (almost all the BGs in the plus tilesets were made by me, without any help from ET), more eye candy and sometimes more normal tiles too. Also, they all got a new, better mask, and a new, better palette. Mountain Plus was the first of the 8 original plus tilesets (I released 3 extra Plus tilesets much later). I got the idea of making the original Mountain tileset a long time ago, and it was supposed to be a spin-off of the tileset 'CL.j2t' (read more about CL.j2t in paragraph XIX, about Extreme Plus). I just wanted to make a nice mountain level (Cracco Mountain).. But CL didn't have enough tiles which I needed. Before, when I had an idea for a level, I just updated CL, but CL already had 1000 tiles here. So, I HAD to make a new tileset and so the small "Mountain" was born. Later, CM had an update called CMT (Cracco MounTain), because CM just was TOO small. And that was the tileset which was later converted into Mountain Plus (CM+).

Almost the same story as Mountain (Plus). I learned how to make gravity less areas in levels (water in which you can jump), and wanted to use that in a new level. "CL" had some moon (I wanted to make the moon a playable place in my level Cracco Moon) tiles, but far from enough. I also needed space backgrounds. And because CL was full, I had to create a separate tileset which became my smallest released tileset ever, "Space". As far as I know, Space/CS was only used twice (the levels Cracco Moon and Cracco Space). A few years later, Space was converted into Space Plus. But CS+, though it was a lot better than it's prequel, quickly became overshadowed by Outerspace when that tileset came out a few months later. Still, this tileset is still important for me and brings up a lot of memories. CS and CM (and in some way, CE too) are the oldest of all the tilesets which became plus tilesets.

Poke Rainbow is one of my oldest tilesets. I'm not a fan of Pokémon anymore since the second half of 2000 (and when I'm writing this, it's already 2003!). Before this I made another Pokémon based tileset, first called POKEMON (pokemon.j2t, later CPL.j2t when I gave it a new mask + palette). Poke Rainbow is an outerspace tileset (featuring a rainbow and small yellow 'planets'), with Pokémon mixed in. The plus version has some mask issues solved, a better palette, and some necessary stuff added. There's not much to say about this tileset. I'm not too fond of it myself, but it's not that bad.

So I had created TEC, the special project. I needed a nice home server to recruit members in, in which I could give a room to each member. This kind of level was later labelled as “hotel”. In order to make a level like this, I needed a new, suitable tileset. I ripped some times from carrottus, carrottus night, easter and a few from other Epic tilesets. I also made a lot of tiles myself, mostly the alphabet, some building tiles and the blocks (each member had his own theme/element on his block) for the rooms. The result, the TEC Hotel, attracted a wide variety of new members.
While I was working on the “Plus” versions of my classic tilesets, I got the idea to make a plus version of this tileset as well. The main reason was that the tileset had a horrible palette, something which I wanted to have fixed in the final version. It also lacked textured backgrounds, so I added two of them (although the second one is REALLY odd). I threw in some random tiles and then it was done. However, by making this Plus version of the TEC tileset in 2002, I sort of revealed the truth about who the real leader of TEC was back then in the old days. Me.

The original CX was the first good non-spinoff tileset I made. All the tilesets before CX were either lame pokémon ones, or just special versions of CL or CC. Coolman and me felt like making a assault level, but none of my tilesets were suitable enough to create one. And we thought that a cave would be nice for an assault level. So we started ripping *cough* cave tiles (with some drawn ones too) for this tileset. The ripped tiles in CX are mostly from Mario and Final Fantasy games. CX gave the new assault level (Cracco Assault, one of my personal favourites) a nice and interesting look, something totally new compared to all the older Cracco tilesets! I was extremely happy with CX, and was planning to make more non-look-like-CL/CC tilesets (those became CY, CZ, CW, CV, CF and in a way, CG), which I did. I learned that tilesets with a specific theme usually turn out better than the multi-theme ones (like "CLC.j2t" at that time). Much later I made the Plus version, which had (in my opinion) interesting palette changes and nice BGs. To improve the quality of all the levels with X-Caves, I converted them all in levels using X-Caves Plus (like I did with most levels which used tilesets with new Plus versions).

The original "Yeasts" was released shortly after X-Caves. While I liked X-Caves a little more, Yeasts was very good for a new single player level idea (The Mystic Sea Of Serpentra), and was my first tileset with a watery theme. Again, this is a nice example of my old tileset making strategy. I used to come up with ideas for a new interesting level, and made a (usually with mostly ripped tiles) tileset especially for that level (CX, CW, CV etc.). Later, the tileset itself was most important and I the tileset was usually already finished before I thought of a nice idea for a new level using the new tileset (CI, CO, C1 etc.). Yeasts (Plus) mostly has Mario and Final Fantasy tiles. Alberto gave me the save files for the Mario ROMs so I could get access to more tiles while not having to play each game for a long time. Yeasts Plus didn't have many new tiles, but gained three very nice new backgrounds and some octopussy-like tiles. I like this tileset about just as much as Zest Plus, not my favourites, but I definitely still like them.

Zest Plus. Almost all the tiles (excluding the BGs) are ripped. All tiles come from Mario games for the SNES (from Super Mario Bros to Super Mario World). The original Zest only had 140 tiles which were colours and it didn't have any tiles from Super Mario World yet. Not only were the tiles from Super Mario World (which were ripped by Jackass) added to the Plus version. Plus, which had 590 tiles, also got 3 nice backgrounds and poles, hooks, vines (and a very nice new pallete). Zest (Plus) was the tileset used to create the very first Survive level (Lake In The Jungle, Cracco Lake.j2l), and that's why this tileset still has a place in my heart (ehh), even though it's just a big rip. If it wasn't for Cracco Lake In The Jungle this tileset would have probably never been known and used (Bird Hunt, the other new gamemode using this tileset, flopped). Zest Plus is a tileset especially for fans of the Mario games.

Future (Plus) was like Zest a tileset which consisted mostly of ripped tiles. Almost all tiles in Future (Plus) came from the SNES hits Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy 5). But these tiles together give the tileset a different futuristic look than Chrono Trigger's futuristic look. This is the only tileset in this pack which doesn't take place outside. It takes place in a futuristic dome, factory, building, whatever. Future was one of my latest ripped tilesets, and Future Plus was one of my latest released Plus tilesets (it was planned to be the last, but in late December, I released three more Plus tilesets). "Future Plus" is my favourite futuristic tileset, and that's because of the large amount of tilesets, the robots, and the red/blue/purple/black BG. This tileset gives off a creepy, dark feeling, and that exactly suits the theme of the tileset.

This tileset is my favourite among the normal, not multi-themed (mix), Plus tilesets. I'll explain why. Let's go back to the time I was making the tileset 'Winter' (which was one of my later tilesets until I began to draw all the tiles in my tilesets). This was around the autumn of 2001 I believe. This was the first tileset in which a big part of the tiles were drawn instead of ripped. That's one reason why I liked 'Winter' so much. The second reason was the set of snowmen it contained (and some dragons, as enemies). These snowmen were great for making RPG like levels (Cracco Snowdust Village was a really popular level at that). Winter had only 370 tiles, but was still one of my favourites at that time. Plus had 340 new, all non-ripped tiles. So the final version of this tileset had 710 tiles, that's enough. The drawing of the snowmen was very enjoyable and let my imagination go wild (uhm...). I got most of the inspiration for making the snowmen from the different types of fighters from the Middle Ages. I adored this tileset a lot but I felt bad about the few ripped tiles (I got a solution for that later). Still, Winter Plus definitely is one of the most known tilesets in my tileset making carreer. There are a two special palette-edit versions of this tileset around: CWwarm and CWcold, all made from the newest version and all three the versions have the same tiles. Winter (Plus) is a tileset that uses the Hot<->Cold contrast as theme, and CWw.j2t is a little more to the hot side, while CWc.j2t is a little more to the cold side.

Gathering was made for one specific level. Because Land of Coins was such a great success, COOLM@N and me wanted to make a sequel, called Time and Dimensions. TaD was supposed to have the same kind of game play as LoC, but in TaD there were 8 different time zones. You start in one of them, and the other 7 all have 4 triggers to find (28 normal triggers in total). But I didn't have a tileset with 8 different time eras, so I had to make one. I took some tiles from CE (Elemental) for the Present, the Classic Ages and the Middle Ages, some tiles from CF (Future) for the Future, some tiles from CW (Winter) for the Ice Age and some times from CX for The Arise Of The World (I drew the volcano and the fire tiles though). I also picked a few tiles from CV (Volitant), CY (Yeasts) and CZ (Zest). The tiles for the Pre-Prehistory and the Prehistory are new (most ripped from various games).
Gathering is, like the name says, a mix of a lot of tiles. You can make very variated levels with it. The Plus version isn't such a big change to the tileset. Some textures were added to some of the drawn tiles and the mask has improved. I also thought it could use a nice palette edit. I found Violet, who was willing to help. While I was telling him my wishes for the palette, he was working on it, and the new palette was done in no time. It's the tileset with the mostly changed palette so far (use more colours than only white to chat to see some of the changes made). There are two things I don't like about this tileset. Since it has so many themes, it doesn't have enough tiles for each theme to make levels with just one theme. I'm also not very happy with the fact that a lot of the tiles here have already been used before in other Cracco tilesets. Still, I'm satisfied with this tileset.

Volitant was one of my latest, non-plus, ripped tilesets. It was created with about the same purposes as X-Caves; a tileset needed to make an Assault level. The radar in Volitant was made especially for that Assault level (like in my old tileset making days; the main goal of making a new tileset was to make it suit a specific new level idea), but it can be used in other levels as well, as decoration. The ripped tiles in this tileset are mostly from Chrono Trigger. Volitant Plus is a big update of the classic tileset Volitant. Volitant had just 300 tiles, but Volitant Plus had 570. That's almost an update of 100% more tiles! There are three backgrounds in Volitant Plus. 2 normal ones and one smaller one above the credit banners. The purpose of that one is to put it on layer 7 and make a moving background to give plane levels the real effect that they're really flying and moving. In the extension, Volitant Plus, COOLM@N got the ripped tiles for the update, and I made the BGs and the few other new tiles for Volitant Plus. I made a special update for Volitant Plus 11 January 2003, with some extra metallic tiles added (80 new tiles). Volitant Plus, while not used too much by me, is a nice addition to the pack overall.

In the second half of CTU’s time span, the clangroup CTU (named after the three founders; CC, TEC, UR) only consisted of five members; CC, TEC, UR, LD, TNC. TNC was kind of a “lite version” of CC, but the other four were totally independent. These four agreed to have a uniform official CTU tileset for joint level projects and things like that. The tileset would be a compilation of tiles from each clan’s official tilesets. CC’s tiles came mainly from the tileset “Mountain” (CMT.j2t), UR’s contribution came from their well-known tileset “UR-ORBS” (UR-ORBS.j2t), TEC had some tiles from their “TEC” (TEC.j2t) tileset and Zieg from LD collected and drew some especially for this project. The result was a multi-themed tileset. It’s a shame that the clan LD died before the level the tileset was meant for; “CTU World” was finished.

Leaving out ET’s contributions to the collection of “Cracco tilesets” would be a really stupid thing to do. Not only did ET help with the construction of MANY tilesets (palettes, backgrounds or normal tiles), he also created two Cracco tilesets himself. This one is called ET CCa, a tileset perfect for CTF levels, since it has thrones and flags for each colour. It has two different sets of castle tiles, a black one and a brown one. Q-Base (better known as CQ) by ET, was one of the best Cracco tilesets in the old days, featuring a lot of self-drawn tiles (although there are still a lot of ripped tiles, including some from “ET CCa”. The thing that makes this tileset very practical is that it consists of multiple themes, as in, different kinds of ground tiles (although these are all each pretty undeveloped). Next to this there are also some nice, well-done metallic-like “blocks”, usable for creating levels that take place inside of some sort of (space) building, and some tiles for creating a dungeon or something. There are a couple of nice layer 6/7 backgrounds and at the end some monsters ripped from RPG games.

Although URjazz has always been multi-clanning during his stay in CC (he was the leader of UR, the Ultra Rabbits), he was a dedicated CC’er. This showed off when he created CP, a small, but for its size decent tileset. It has some tiles for creating indoor areas, a bath, a fridge, an oven, some beds, a TV, etc. Although the texture on these tiles is non-existent, they could be used for a hotel level.

I was talking with ET about trying to make a 100% drawn tileset after so many ripped and partly-ripped tilesets. We thought of a theme, and after I decided on swamp-like, I started working. I started with the vine-like things in the beginning. Each time I made a major update I saved it under a different name (I still have 10 different versions of CH in my Tiles directory, excluding the working palette-less test version known as bramble.j2t). Unlike a lot of other tilesets, the order in which the tilesets are in this one is also the order of in which they were drawn. Around version 4, the tileset was finally getting shape and I was really pleased with the results. ET made two very nice textured backgrounds for it (most of my tilesets have two textured backgrounds nowadays). Version 9 was supposed to be the latest version, and it contained a lot of eye candy (including trees, background mountains, background trees, temple tiles and a lot more). More than half a year later, I decided to make a minor update (version 10, never released before!) and added rain, arrows, a snowman and a set of blocks. I had some masking problems in versions 1 till 9 but they were fixed in the final version. I learned from this tileset that making tilesets is more fun than ripping tilesets, and the results are also way better. After this tilesets semi-final version (9) was released, I decided to draw more tilesets and was very motivated. There are a few special palette-edit versions of this tileset around: CHmorning, CHevening, CHmoonlight and CHnight (these are all made from version 9, so the newest tiles aren't in these!).

Island is my second drawn tiles and oh my god, do I love this one!! It's in my personal top three of best tilesets on JJ2, even though I didn't use PSP7 or any other programs except for paint at all. I was done with Haggard and wanted to make another drawn tileset and was thinking of several themes and finally decided to pick Island, because there weren't any other good Island tilesets done at that moment (Island is still the only quality island-themed tileset which I know, I'm not sure if there are any others). Island (CI) had basically 3 versions (excluding the working palette-less test version). The first one had 700 tiles and contained two nice textured backgrounds by ET, 2 animating fish by Jackass and a lot of basic and eye candy tiles by me. I believe it was version 1 which I released and uploaded on J2o, but I'm not sure, it could have also been version 2. Version 2 wasn't too much of an update, it just had 10 more tiles, a nice third fish by Jackass (710 tiles). Version 3 was a bigger update, it had 860 tiles. Belts, SFC-tiles (a collectable set of small objects), Sucker Tubes, some more ground types and a set of letters, some snowmen, numbers and other characters were added in this version to make it complete. 860 isn't as much as some other tilesets, but I just like the exotic feeling this tileset gives.
This is also the tileset in which Jackass made his debut as tileset drawer. He only made 34 tiles, but the fish were high quality, and it easily became clear that he would be a worthy successor to Coolman as my primary teammate in tileset making (he proved that in CO, C1, C2, and a little in C3). The tileset has 3 types of ground; forest/grassland, beach and cave/underground. These 3 types can be connected to each other, those 'linking-tiles' take up quite some space in the tileset, but it's very nice to work with more than one ground types in harmony. Though Haggard was a great tileset IMO, this one gives off a much more brighter and positive feeling, although the quality of the drawn tiles is about the same as Haggard. After Island was finished I was even more motivated to draw tilesets instead of ripping them, because Island didn't take long to make, unlike Haggard which took about 3 months. I worked on Island while I was also doing most of the Plus tilesets, I worked on Island whenever I felt like it, and if I wasn't in the mood for drawing tiles, I just worked on the Plus tilesets. There are a few special pallete-edit versions of this tileset around: CIbright, CIcold, CIevening, CIhot and CInight (these are all made from version 2, so the newest tiles aren't in these!).

This tileset is 100% drawn, but a part of the tiles have been used before in Winter Plus. I liked Winter Plus A LOT, but the fact that it had ripped tiles and would never become very popular because of that was really pissing me off. But I couldn't cut those tiles out of Winter Plus, because they were used in all levels made with Winter (Plus). So the only solution was to make a new tileset. I took all drawn tiles from Winter Plus and reorganised them, basic tiles at the top, eye candy tiles at the bottom. I also replaced the two textured backgrounds with two new ones and ET and me drew a lot of new tiles for Køøl so it wouldn't be just a total rip-off of Winter Plus. After these actions were taken, Køøl was about just as good as the regular drawn Cracco tileset (the quality was about the same as in Haggard and Island). Just as Winter and Winter Plus, Køøl's trademark is the set of snowmen (5 new ones added; Shadow Knight, Holy Knight, Woodcutter, Blue Sage, Red Sage), and this time they're put together in the tileset. CK also has 2 sets of characters and 2 sets of blocks. The first snowman I made was for one of Jazzes tilesets, but I liked the snowmen so much that I decided to draw more of them, for my own tilesets. Almost all my newer tilesets have at least one snowman in them, just for fun. That's the story of Køøl and the snowmen.

This is one of the two tilesets in this pack which were originally Jackass' (EvvilSpoon's) idea and in which he made the first tiles ("Sanctuary of the Vampire" is the other one). He never made any good drawn tilesets himself, he only contributed a little in Island and ripped some tiles for various tilesets. So he started drawing some tiles, without any theme for the tileset yet. But later he thought that the tiles looked spacey, and he decided to make the tileset have a Outerspace theme. He made the basic tiles for planet 1 and some tiles for a kind of Space-Base (to put on planet 1). Shortly after that, he asked if I wanted to make this tileset together with him, so I joined in the project (eventually, I made more tiles than him).
The textured backgrounds were done fast and they were put in at the place where the planet 3 tiles and the animating capsule are now (the BGs were moved more to the bottom later). After most of the tiles from planet 1 (and the stars, which were later used for SFC, the alien, the spaceship and some other tiles) were done, we decided that it would be even a better tileset if it featured more planets. The same week, I got my hands on PSP7 and found out how to use it properly, that's why some of the later tiles in Outerspace are textured. I made the tiles for planet 2, Jackass made the tiles for planet 3. We also made all the needed stuff (letters, numbers, poles, hooks, belts, vines, sucker tubes, blocks, text/exit boards, a warp animation and spikes) After that, most of the tileset was done. We gave each planet a different type of liquid. 1 has slime, 2 has water, 3 has lava. We also put two kinds of mountains in as background eye candy (at the bottom); I made the white one and Jackass made the brown one. Some other eye candy tiles were added, like the evil plants and the circling voids, and the tileset was done. This was my/our first drawn tileset which I made the palette for, and I'm quite satisfied with it. It has a special version with a different palette, different layer 5/6/7 backgrounds and textured BGs called Outerspace Special (COs.j2t).

While waiting for Jackass to do his tiles in Sanctuary of the Vampire (I did my part), I got bored of waiting, and decided to make a small solo tileset in the time he was finishing C2. However, C0/Party Casino turned out much bigger as planned though. I had a idea for a new level/game mode, a level with casino-like mini games, and I needed a new tileset for that, that's why it got the casino theme. However, that level idea never got finished. But the tileset did. The test version was done 16-08-2002 and the final version 22-08-2002 (I released it much later though). The tileset turned out much larger than planned. It's colourful and the balloons in it have a very important role in a level which I made with it later (Cracco Balloon Races). There's a lot of eye candy in this tileset, like dice and cards. I really like the happy feeling this tileset gives.

Comments:
Desert Of The Lazy Donkeys is one of my favourite tilesets of all time. It features a middle American landscape (Texas, Mexico etc.) around 1750 AD, complete with villages and deserts. The story behind it is a little strange, but interesting. In the first half of 2002 I had a dream. I dreamed that I looking at a new deserty tileset with a lot of cactuses. I wasn't sure if I was looking at it on the monitor from my computer chair, or if I was IN the computer and going through it. This dream was very strange, but the idea for Desert Of The Lazy Donkeys was born.
The day that Jackass and me finished Outerspace, we immediately started working on C1.j2t (Desert Of The Lazy Donkeys), and got quite far the first day. Some of the tiles I made the first day (the desert ground and the cactuses) look almost exactly as the scene I saw in my dream (I based those tiles on that dream). Of course, the majority of the tiles didn't appear in my dream, but everything I remembered to see in my tileset dream, I drew for this tileset. I also made the first textured BG, the set of letters/numbers, the two sets of blocks, the poles, the credit banners, the warp animation, the exit boards, the text board, the hook, the arrows and some other stuff on the first day (Jackass, who usually makes the animated living things, made the vulture the first day). I believe that that day was the day I drew most tiles and spent most time working on tilesets ever (CO and C1).
The second day, I drew the tiles for the second type of ground and the eye candy for that, plus the belts and the sucker tubes. Jackass started working on a sleeping Mexican and a lazy donkey (which the tileset got named after). In these 2 days, the tileset had already accumulated enough tiles for a test version. It would probably already been good enough for releasing it, but we didn't do that yet. We made a lot more tiles for it. A second textured BG, temple/ruin/shrine blocks, a second donkey, background houses, tiles to make houses (this way of making it possible for users to make a customizable house was also used in Santa's Snowy Zone later), water, background eye candy (I especially like the yellow/green/brown canyon-like background by Jackass), finger-posts, clouds, spikes and more. Prior to the release on J2o of C1.j2t, I got compliants about the two mating turtles and got threatened that the tileset would be deleted off J2o if it was uploaded like this. So Jackass/EvvilSpoon made a different, more cartoonish turtle, which we used for an alternative version (the version which we uploaded on J2o, later labeled as C1b.j2t).

This tileset is definitely one of my/our best. Jackass came up with the idea (we were just brainstorming for an idea for a new tileset), and started the project. During the whole project, I must say that I was inspired by Neclord, a vampire from a RPG called Suikoden and by Thriller, a clip/song from Michael Jackson. Jackass made ALL the (outside) church tiles very soon (he already made them before I started working on the tileset). A while later, I made the set of letters/numbers, the ground tiles with their graves, the animating coffin, two versions of the ghastly foreground/background (moving) decoration and some more stuff. ET made the two textured BGs, the background trees, and the background hills. That's when the test version was done (one of the two textured BGs wasn't included in this version of the tileset). I reorganised the order of the tiles for the real version, cut one of the two 'flying spirits' decorations out (the smaller one) and added the other textured BG. And ofcourse, a lot of more tiles were added later. I especially like the organ with the vampire (by Jackass). ET took some time with the palette, so we had to release it a long time after we completed all the tiles.

I kinda like this, but I prefer working with bigger tilesets, that's why I gave in my opinion it deserves a less high rating than most of the other tilesets here. I was planning to make a normal sized Christmassy tileset but I didn't do that yet. A person from the JJ2 community called Disguise held a contest about small tilesets. That's why I made this tileset (unfortunately, it didn't win). It contains enough tiles to make alright levels, but it's too small for any spectacular ideas. Still, it offered a good training in how to make efficient small tilesets (unlike the original 'Space', which was even 50 tiles bigger than this, but was way less useful).

Because I liked Mini X-Mas' theme so much, even before the tileset contest ended, I took the useful tiles from C3mini and started working on Santa's Snowy Zone (first a test version called C3old.j2t). The first tiles I added were some more needed tiles, background trees, a self-made textured background and two snowmen. After a couple of tiles I reorganised the order of the tiles and gave that tileset the filename C3.j2t, and started working on that (adding tiles). Violet made a very nice palette (the most noticeable change in the palette is that green and red have changed places) for Santa's Snowy Zone. At this time, Nightmare (also known as Lugia, Sauron or Onion) drew some tiles for the tileset (the snowball pile, the first original background tile and the presents on the ground. Jackass also started working on a few tiles for the tileset (the two animated deer), but especially the second one took him a very long time. I did almost everything in this tileset myself though. There's not a lot to say about Santa's Snowy Zone. It's just a tileset which tries to do a good job in being a Christmas tileset. My last tileset of the year 2002, and one of the best of that successful year.

This tileset is what I intended to have as my last tileset ever, finishing all unfinished projects. After C3 (Santa’s Snowy Zone), my friend Link wanted to make his own tileset (with my help). He drew some interesting tubes and blocks in various colours and a nice mini layer 6/7 background with mountains and a lake. Together we created some waterfalls in different colours, a set of destruct/etc blocks and some ground tiles with ugly grass. I added a green textured background, some basic stuff and a set of letters. This tileset was branded as “C4” (naturally, after C3, comes C4). However, the tileset lacked a real theme and both of us were pretty demotivated to continue working on it. This happened in the start of 2003.
One day in late 2004/early 2005, I got the idea to make a well-structured, self-drawn cave tileset. I drew the basic set of cave tiles, but after that, dropped the project (lack of motivation, I didn’t really have any nice ideas for eye candy in the tileset).
While I was working on the WoC/Godaiku pack, I needed one last tileset to make the 12th level with so I could finish the level pack. I only wanted to use self-drawn tilesets for this pack (with the exception of the very first level, which is a tribute, sort of), and I ran out of them. I realised I had two unfinished projects lying around (C4 and C7). I combined them, changed the textured background from green to blue and called the new project “River of Dreams” (yes, named after that song by Billy Joel). I added a lot of newly drawn tiles, and just before the tileset was finished, I renamed it to “Riverside Camping Site”.

My first tileset of 2003, a brand new year for tileset making. Late January/early February I was thinking about all the stuff and comics I've drawn years ago.
When I was about 7, I started writing stories and drawing comics. I kept doing that a lot on my primary school. I came up with a couple of characters which each had their own kind of stories and different time and places. A few years later, I took 3 of those characters together, gave one a brother, brought a pet of another character in, and the group of heroes, the "Cracco Boys" was created (named after a mythical dragon from their continent). From that moment on I started drawing comics about the Cracco Boys in which they had to fight various enemies. I added 3 more Cracco Boys later so there were 8. When I was 12 years old, I started a new comic book, taking place in the Middle Ages. A lot of characters who weren't Cracco Boys got a important role in this too (like the cows). I basically stopped drawing comics when I turned 14.
Going through my memories from those days of creativity, I was thinking that it would be a cool idea to make a tileset of the origins of the Cracco Boys, to point out where the name is from. That was going to be the original name of the tileset, "Origins of Cracco" but I had to change the plan later. The first version was done on the 4th of February. I started scanning tiles in from 3 books (a biography book featuring about 50 main characters with a drawing and text, and 2 comic books with the actual story). With TTM32 I mixed in a existing textured background with a sky from my comics. I also drew some tiles on the PC.
For this tileset, I also had to draw completely new tiles. In total, I had to make 7 new drawing and scanned them in later. On a lazy afternoon I drew the first and second page with the background things. The mountain range and the forest. Another day, I made the third and the fourth drawings which included stuff like the layer 4 trees, the toadstools and the snowmen (a tribute to Winter Plus and Køøl). A Saturday morning, I had breakfast at my grandparent's. While I was there, I made the temple tiles (page 5). My grandmother's filt-tips were almost empty, so I had to use her pencils to colour the objects. That's why they look different than the other tiles. A few days later, I got a new pack of fine liners... So I drew two more pages. One with the balloon (a tribute to Party Casino), the alphabet (sadly, a lot of the letter's colours were lost with the making of the palette), the warp animation, the elevator and the belts. The other one had the U.F.O. (a tribute to Outerspace), the vine and the airplane (a tribute to Volitant Plus). And most important of all, that final drawing had the 10 statues. They're referring to the 10 drawn Cracco tilesets up to this point (CH, CI, CK, CO, C0, C1, C2, C3, C4 and C5). And that's everything there is to get in this tileset.
It was basically made as an experiment. I wanted to see how a tileset, consisting mostly of drawn and scanned in tiles, would turn out. I must say I'm happy with the result. The people who I've shown the tileset to all enjoyed it, and it got a lot of positive reactions and compliments.

More than six months later than my last tileset. A tileset that takes place in the present. In 2002 I was already thinking of making a highway tileset. I didn't come much further than getting a stupid sketch and a background. I threw the sketch away and kept the background away somewhere. Then when I began to start working on Santa's Snowy Zone, I used this background which was originally intended for this tileset, the Arizonian Highway. I forgot about making the road tileset because I thought it was going to be too hard to make.
After I completed C5 I started another new hand-drawn tileset right away, which would be C6. It would be a Asian Middle Ages tileset. I asked ET to make the background, which he did, by taking a photo of a Australian sunrise. I only made a few tiles more and then got bored of JJ2 and left the game. I kept these tiles safe though.
A few weeks ago when I came back to JJ2 I wanted to make a new tileset again, C7. So I thought back of my old highway idea and wanted to see if I could make a tileset like that. Because the original C6 wasn't ever going to be finished, I took C6's tiles and called C7 C6.
Well within two weeks I had the tileset completed. I wasn't disappointed by the result at all. Newspaz made the pallete for the tileset, with me giving some basic instructions of what I wanted. The pallete turned out to fit the tileset greatly. Almost no tiles lost detail. Many thanks to Newspaz.
When I was hosting a server to beta-test the tileset, Trafton joined the server and said it looked like a highway in Arizona. That's how the tileset got it's name. That's the story of the "Arizonian Highway".

When I was planning the fourth level of the “air survivor” series, I figured it would be cool to have a level with a lot of “freeze enemies” events. These events would fit well in a icey level with a frozen over tileset. I could have just used Winter, Køøl or Santa’s Snowy Zone, but this time I wanted something new. So I created this conversion of the classic default Castle tileset. I gave all the tiles a new blue or purple/pink shade, to make them look frozen over. Since I wanted a part of the level to take place outside, I added a textured background, an edited version of one of the textured backgrounds ET made for me while I was looking for a nice one to use in the tileset “Amazonian Highway”. I also added some standard (but re-colorized) suckertubes, because these would obviously come in handy in the level I created this set for (Frozen Castle, an air survivor level). Even though it’s just a rip/conversion, I can’t say I’m dissatisfied with the result.

After much hard work I am proud to present LEGENDARY, the ultimate tileset tribute to Shaney. You will find red eyes, blue flames, white venom, brown oil, black hole and of course some Shaney pics (normal pics, mind you!) and quotes.
The tileset itself takes place in a castle setting (with some outside tiles as well), loosely based on the default Castle1 tileset. All standard tiles (tubes, hooks, vines, poles, blocks, textured BG, etc.) are present as well.

A few days after my last tileset (Legendary), I got the idea to create a tileset with the 12 (13, including Serpentarius) Zodiac Signs as theme.
Within a week, I had red blocks (with zodiac signs), brown soil and grey background walls. Spybunny helped me by drawing some nice decorations for the walls and a couple of layer 8 backgrounds.
I decided to include the Chinese zodiac signs as well, as background decorations. After this I ran out of inspiration and had no idea what else I could add.
The project rested for a couple of months while I was occupied with other projects (mainly Mikkoku). In September, I got in contact with my old tileset pal ET again, and he drawed me some nice ground tiles which I included in the set.
And then, in October, I managed to finish the tileset with some sucker tubes, rain, some additional bigger and brighter blocks and ten religious symbols. I'm happy with the result, the set fits it's theme (symbols!) well.

I have always wanted to extend the C# series to C9, but not long after I created Zodiac (C8), I became very inactive at JJ2 and JCS. After more than a year of doing nothing, I decided to start working on C9 (which was supposed to be my final tileset) in October 2007. I wanted to recreate Legendary to make a more 'serious' tileset that would appeal to more people. The theme of the new tileset was supposed to be "Cracco"; the official CC (fur) colours green, blue and black as well as silver (from the Silver Dragon). So I took some of Legendary's basic tiles and recoloured them. After this, I stopped working on it again. Late in November, Quickz asked me to be his partner for Cooba's JCS Collaboration Competition. He liked C9 thusfar and wanted me to finish it so we could use it in the contest. Due to circumstances, I wasn't able to get myself to finish it and I had to postpone it once again (Quickz and I used Agama's Egypt instead for our submission).
In mid-January, I finally started working on the tileset again. I spent several days of almost non-stop drawing in order to finish the tileset as soon as possible. I didn't want it to look too much like Legendary so most of the new tiles were original. The tileset became so big that I even had to cut several tiles to keep it small enough for people to use animations! The mask and the palette weren't perfect yet but I finished them a couple of days layer. I decided to call the tileset "Cracco Castle", as a tribute to my very first (and horrible) level ever created. The tileset as a whole is tributed to CC's current JJ2 division members.
